Pregnancy is such a powerful season of life. It’s filled with anticipation, excitement, and sometimes tender emotions that shape the story of a growing family. Recently, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful in-studio maternity session in my Brighton, Colorado portrait studio, and it was one that carried both joy and deep meaning.
This sweet family came in to celebrate the baby they are expecting — while also honoring a child they lost previously. Their session was filled with love, connection, and a quiet strength that made the images especially meaningful.
If you're searching for a Denver or Brighton maternity photographer, sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do.
Their maternity session took place right here in my home portrait studio serving the Denver metro area. One of the things families love most about an in-studio maternity session is how relaxed and comfortable it feels.
No worrying about weather, wind, or Colorado’s unpredictable temperatures — just a peaceful space designed specifically for portraits.
The neutral tones of the studio paired beautifully with the soft textures of the set. Mom looked absolutely radiant seated on the rattan daybed, gently cradling her baby bump.
The overall feel of the session was calm, intimate, and timeless.
During the session, the family brought something incredibly meaningful with them — a small urn representing a baby they had previously lost.
We incorporated it into several images in a very subtle and respectful way. Moments like this remind me that maternity photography is about so much more than documenting a pregnancy.
It’s about honoring the full story of motherhood.
Joy and grief can exist in the same space, and creating photographs that acknowledge both can be incredibly healing for families.
Mom chose several gowns from my studio client closet, which is available to all maternity clients.
The soft pink lace gown she selected photographed beautifully and complemented the neutral studio tones perfectly. One of the benefits of booking a maternity session at my studio is that you don’t have to worry about finding something to wear.
Many expecting moms feel overwhelmed trying to choose outfits for photos, which is why I provide a curated client closet with maternity gowns and wardrobe pieces designed specifically for photography.
One of my favorite parts of this session was capturing the connection between the entire family.
Dad and their son joined in for some portraits that were full of warmth and excitement as they prepare to welcome their newest family member.
These images are often the ones families treasure most years later — the moment right before everything changes in the best way.
Many expecting parents choose an in-studio maternity session because it allows the focus to stay completely on the emotion and connection of the moment.
In my Brighton portrait studio, maternity sessions are designed to feel:
• Relaxed
• Comfortable
• Guided (I help with posing every step of the way)
• Beautifully styled
Every detail is thoughtfully curated so you can simply show up and enjoy the experience.

The best time for maternity portraits is typically between 28–34 weeks, when your baby bump is beautifully visible but you're still comfortable enough to move and pose easily.
Many families who book maternity sessions also reserve their newborn session at the same time to ensure availability.

Every maternity session tells a unique story.
Some are joyful and playful.
Some are quiet and reflective.
Some, like this one, carry layers of love, remembrance, and hope.
Being trusted to document these moments is something I never take for granted.
If you’re expecting and looking for a Brighton or Denver maternity photographer, I would love to help you preserve this fleeting season of life.
