How to Prepare for Your Maternity Session

Capturing the beauty of pregnancy is a special experience, and I want to make sure your maternity session is a fun, stress-free, and memorable occasion. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for your maternity session so you can feel confident and radiant in front of the camera!

1. Decide on Your Location: Studio or Outdoor?

One of the first things to consider is whether you’d like your maternity session to take place in my studio or in a beautiful outdoor setting.

  • Studio Sessions: Perfect for timeless and intimate portraits, with controlled lighting and access to my client closet for wardrobe options.

  • Outdoor Sessions: If you love natural light and dreamy backdrops, we’ll schedule your session during golden hour (just before sunset) for the most flattering and beautiful lighting.

2. Timing is Everything: When to Schedule Your Session

The best time to schedule your maternity session is between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy. This is the sweet spot where your baby bump is beautifully round, but you’re still comfortable enough to move and pose with ease.

3. Wardrobe Options & Styling Tips

To help you feel your best, I offer a client closet with a gorgeous selection of maternity gowns that flatter all body types. These gowns are designed to highlight your bump beautifully while making you feel elegant and confident.

For a timeless look, I also recommend bringing a pair of jeans and a cute bra—this simple, classic style is a wonderful way to showcase the natural beauty of pregnancy.

4. What to Bring to Your Session

To ensure you’re comfortable and prepared, here are a few must-haves to bring with you:

  • Water – It is dry here in Colorado, so staying hydrated is key!

  • Nude strapless bra and nude panties – These will help ensure a seamless look under gowns.

  • Makeup for touch-ups – A little powder or lipstick can keep you looking fresh throughout the session.

5. Professional Hair & Makeup Services

Want to add a touch of luxury to your experience? Let us know if you’d like a professional hair and makeup artist to meet you at the studio before your session. A little pampering can go a long way in making you feel even more beautiful and confident!

Final Thoughts

Your maternity session is all about celebrating this incredible journey into motherhood. Whether in the studio or outdoors, I am here to create stunning images that you’ll cherish forever. If you have any questions or special requests, feel free to reach out—I can’t wait to capture this special moment with you!
